Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine

I am part of a family of Chinese medicine practitioners, helping to continue a four-generation tradition. I practice acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, and specialize in the treatment of chronic illness.

I developed my interest in healing through my undergraduate studies at Brown University by pursuing courses in complementary and alternative medicine. Later, I obtained a California acupuncture license upon completion of the master's program in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences.

During my years of training, I apprenticed with the renowned Dr. Kwei-Lin King, whose family has been practicing acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine for generations in China and Taiwan.

About My Practice
My practice focuses on the treatment of chronic medical conditions, including digestive problems, menstrual problems, insomnia, chronic headaches, and chronic fatigue.

I am a strong believer in the practice of integrative medicine -- combining the best of modern medical approaches with the time-proven treatments of traditional Chinese medicine. I am very interested in how Chinese medicine works with modern medical treatment to improve patients' health and quality of life.

About Chinese Medicine
Chinese medicine has been used for thousand of years to treat ailments of the internal organ systems. Chinese medicine is able to address a wide range of conditions because its diagnostic and treatment approach is based upon a different model than that used by modern medicine. We view the body as an integrated whole, and try to address root causes of medical problems, rather than simply treating the symptoms.

Treatment Goals
As my patients make progress throughout the course of treatment, most experience significant improvement in the frequency and the intensity of their symptoms. Many are even able to reduce or discontinue their medications under the direction of their treating physician, with whom I coordinate my care. When appropriate, I also use Chinese herbal medicine, which is gentle and elicit few or no side effects. We will work together to make sure there is no interaction between gentle Chinese herbs and patients' prescription medications.

Patients who continue treatment experience a decrease in their primary symptoms, as well as an improvement in their energy level, appetite, sleep and overall well-being.
