Community Health Outreach

On Saturday December 29th, East Bay Pain Care, an Oakland integrative medical clinic, will host a free day of natural healthcare for Oakland residents. The event is a holiday gift to the people of Oakland from the award-winning clinic, and is also designed to encourage healthcare reform at the local level.

Michael Moore's recent film "SiCKO" highlighted much of what is wrong with American Healthcare. In response, East Bay Pain Care is hosting "Oakland HEALTHO!" a free, day long, community health outreach event to show new ways that local health care providers can work to change healthcare now, at the local level instead of waiting for the federal government to act.

With the help of its co-sponsors; City Car Share and Mayway Corporation, East Bay Pain Care will be providing medical consultations, massage therapy, nutritional counseling, acupuncture treatment, and chiropractic treatments, all free of charge. "Our focus is on simple, natural treatments that people can use to improve their health and quality of life - without dangerous and expensive drugs, without lots of paperwork, and without dealing with insurance companies," says East Bay Pain Care Director Lorenzo Puertas L.Ac., QME.

Oakland HEALTHO! will serve as an introduction to East Bay Pain Care's new community clinic opening Spring 2008. The new clinic will operate using a group treatment model being popularized nationwide by organizations such as the Community Acupuncture Network and Working Class Acupuncture. East Bay Pain Care will take this model even further by providing not only acupuncture treatments, but physical medicine, chiropractic, and rehabilitation at its new community clinic in downtown Oakland.

East Bay Pain Care is a multi-specialty pain clinic located near the Summit Medical Center in Oakland. Voted Best of the East Bay in 2004 and 2005 by the East Bay Express and the Tribune.
