Endometriosis
Many of our patients are women suffering from endometriosis. Treatment with diet therapy and herbal medicine often brings dramatic relief.
Endometriosis is a condition caused by the abnormal growth of uterine tissue outside of the uterus. It is a fairly common condition affecting up to 15% of American women between ages 16 and 50. It is believed to be the cause of infertility in up to 50% of all infertile women.
Patients suffering from endometriosis often suffer severe premenstrual tension: irritability, abdominal pain, digestive problems. Endometriosis is also often related to chronic mood disorders (like depression). These clusters of symptoms can be addressed very well by holistic medicine, which takes into account the patient's complete state of health, not just one symptom or disorder.
Modern medicine does not fully understand endometriosis, and patients usually suffer greatly with very limited choices of treatment. Conventional treatments usually consist of hormone therapy and surgery to remove the uterus. These therapies are often risky, and may only bring temporary relief. More often, they cause unpleasant side effects.
Chinese medicine has been used successfully in treating a wide range of women's health disorders including endometriosis. Acupuncture and herbal medicine has been proven safe and effective in managing endometriosis—the result of thousands of years of practice and modern scientific studies in terms of both pain relief and in healing the condition at a deeper level.
For endometriosis, we recommend seeing a practitioner of Chinese medicine for
treatment with acupuncture and herbal medicine. At East Bay Pain Care, our
specialist in the treatment of endometriosis is Maria Jia-Yu Yung, L.Ac., Q.M.E.

"My doctor told me that there was no solution for my condition, other than painkillers. Now I know that acupuncture is a powerful treatment for endometriosis, and I'm so glad I found your clinic."
